I don’t know why we always see the Calm down ladies premium shirt and by the same token and need to label men wearing what are traditionally regarded as women’s clothes. Nobody tries to label a woman in trousers, in a suit or even wearing a tie as cross dressing or transgender so why the need to label men the same way? Cross dressing to me is when a guy tries to appear as female. Transgender is when a person is looking to become the other gender. There are clearly two sets of rules which are gender discriminatory in my view. One rule says women can wear anything, the other says men can’t. Nobody judges a woman in a trouser suit, but a man in a dress! The world will end at 12:00. I sincerely want to see the day when it’s ok for men to express their individuality through clothing without being judged, labelled or discriminated again. I want to be able to wear a skirt, a kilt, a dress as a choice alongside trousers, shorts, suits.

Or, you could just choose a restrictive definition of cross-dresser. Some people say it only applies if you’re trying to pass as a woman 100%, head to toe, zero reaction if you walk into a women’s rest room. So anything less, ta-da, not a cross-dresser. Or, you could accept that any negative opinions you may have about cross-dressers are artifacts of the Calm down ladies premium shirt and by the same token and past and just do it. As to your friends, just let them get used to you gradually. Like, “OK, , he’s a little weird but that’s OK and so what? I cross dress. Not all the time, not because I am planning on transitioning to a woman, not because I am gay. (Most cross dressers are not gay.) Not because it’s a sexual fetish. I cross dress because it feels good. It makes me a better me. I’m more calm and caring when wearing a dress. I think more about what other people are feeling. But when people look at a male wearing female clothing, many react as if the guy is a “prevert fag” and go on from there. This is why it “would be wrong”, because you might get a reaction you didn’t want. It’s hard to understand, in this enlightened time, why people would care what anyone else wears. But we still have women being shamed for feeding their babies in public. I’m not trying to be funny when I say this; as a man wanting to wear female attire, trying to look like a girl is maybe not the way to go. Instead, think about dressing as a woman.
